Please note: References to 'members of the University' within these pages should be taken to include all categories of permanent or temporary staff, students or anybody else processing personal information on behalf of or at the request of the University of Sheffield.
The University of Sheffield needs to process information about its members to allow it to monitor (among other things) academic and employment history, performance, achievements, and health and safety.
These pages explain the policy as regards use and access to Personal Information held by the University.
Anyone who deals with Personal Information is required to handle that information confidentially and sensitively. All personal information, whether held on computer or in structured manual records of any kind, is subject to the 1998 Data Protection Act, which came into force on 1 March 2000.
Information relating to students held by the University will be sent to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA)
Personal information about you is held by the University and carried across University systems
