Economics masters students with St George's Church in the backgroundPostgraduate Intro Week 2013

Congratulations on obtaining a place to study on our masters programme for 2013–14. The quality of applications this year has been outstanding. We look forward to welcoming you to the department and the University at our 2013 Postgraduate Intro Week.

Intro Week begins on Monday 23 September. It will help to prepare you for your studies with a series of welcome meetings, registration, and taster classes.

Welcome and registration

The welcome meeting takes place on the morning of Wednesday 25 September. You will be greeted by Professor Peter Wright, our director of taught postgraduate programmes, who will discuss your programme of study and the rest of Intro Week.

You will need to register officially with the University on Thursday 26 September. At this meeting students will receive an official registration and module choice form. Please complete these and ask a member of staff to sign them at our Module Sign-Up session.

Books and reading

Many students are tempted to buy books before coming to university. We advise you not to do this, as older books and online reading may not be relevant. At your first lectures the module leaders will give you reading lists for the courses being taught this year.

Most reading is available free of charge in St George's Library, just across the road from the Department of Economics, or on the internet. After registration you'll have access to our online student portal MOLE2, allowing you to download lecture slides and notes.

See you there

Once again, we look forward to welcoming you to Sheffield and the Department of Economics, and wish you a very successful year ahead. In the meantime, if you have any queries about the degree programmes, registration, or Intro Week, please contact us.
