Faculty refurbishment news and updates

Over the summer we'll see exciting changes within our Faculty estate with refurbishment of existing buildings and movement of departments and staff across the city and southern campus.

A beautiful environment

C floor of the Medical School, including the Health Sciences Library will undergo a major transformation, creating a superb open-plan social learning hub for the Faculty together with a new Library for study and research needs.

Seminar Rooms on B floor will also be refurbished and equipped with new AV facilities. These major developments will significantly enhance the environment that we offer to students and staff within the Faculty.

Importantly, we will be able to welcome the Academic Unit of Medical Education and staff into the Medical School from their present accommodation on Wilkinson Street.

Works will start at the the beginning of April and are due for completion before the start of the new academic session in October 2012.

Faculty of Medicine. Dentistry and Health

Developments at the Northern General Hospital will see a major refurbishment of Samuel Fox House providing a new home to the Clinical Skills Centre, a facility vitally important for our undergraduate medical programme. Work onsite will commence in early May and will be complete by the end of September 2012.

As a consequence of both these projects, we'll see Faculty offices and staff currently based in the Medical School move into the newly refurbished Barber House (the former history building) opposite the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on Glossop Road.

We'll also be welcoming the School of Nursing and Midwifery to this site in April when they leave their present home in Samuel Fox House.
