Restoration Science and Practice
There is a growing acceptance of monitored natural attenuation and risk based solutions to contaminant problems, however, there is still a huge need for the development and validation of new and improved remediation technologies.
At GPRG we are interested in working with the subsurface environment, rather than despite it; this requires a good understanding of the subsurface and risk to receptors, gained through novel site investigation and modelling. We believe that the assessment of restoration best practice should be risk-based and site-specific.
In many cases suitable restoration technologies already exist, however, the uptake of these technologies by practitioners is very slow, due to uncertainty of outcome, cost and the time required to meet clean up targets. There is, therefore, a need to validate existing restoration methodologies at real sites in addition to developing new ones. We also believe that acceptable and practical solutions are best achieved through collaboration with problem holders, regulators, consultants and contractors.
