Department Welcomes New Lecturers
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is delighted to announce the appointment of five new members of staff, including two of our former graduates.
Dr Tom Slatter and Dr Rob Barthorpe both undertook their undergraduate and PhD studies within the department and have now been awarded lectureships.
After completing his PhD Tom spent four years as a university teacher. In his new role he will continue to teach undergraduate design and manufacturing, while also developing his research interests in automotive tribology.
Rob takes up his lectureship after working as a Research Associate within the department’s dynamics group. His current research focuses on structural health monitoring and structural dynamics.
Joining Tom and Rob will be Dr Zeike Taylor, who works in the field of computational biomechanics, while Dr Pierre Ricco will also join the department in early July from King’s College London, where his research focuses on fluid mechanics and particularly turbulent drag reduction.
Head of Department Rob Dwyer-Joyce said: “I am delighted to have recruited these talented new lecturers to our department. They will bring a special mix of skills and I don't doubt they will not only maintain our excellent reputation, but also lead us into new areas of research and scholarship.”
