University Scholarships Application Process
To apply for the ESRC White Rose DTC Scholarships, please follow the procedure below.
The University Prize, Faculty, Harry Worthington, Wolfson Foundation, Hossein Farmy and AHRC Doctoral scholarships are now closed to applications for 2012-13.
To apply for any other scholarship scheme, please follow the instructions for that scheme available on the scholarships web pages.
Application process
- Before applying for a scholarship, you must first apply for admission. We advise you to start by contacting the academic department where you wish to study to discuss your proposed research.
- You should then apply for admission to the University using the Postgraduate Online Application Form.
- You will receive an Application Number from Admissions within a few days of submitting this form. You need this number to apply for a scholarship – applications without a valid Admissions Application Number will not be considered. We recommend applying to Admissions at least a week before the scholarships deadline to ensure you receive your number in time.
- Once you have received your Application Number, please complete the Application Form for University Scholarships selecting the scholarship schemes for which you wish to be considered. Please complete the form once only (unless you are applying for multiple projects or to more than one department), in which case you should complete the form once for each project).
- You will receive a copy of your application by email. If you do not receive this email, your application may not have submitted properly and you should contact pgr-scholarships@sheffield.ac.uk to check if we have received your application.
- If you need to make any changes to your scholarship application once you have submitted it, please email pgr-scholarships@sheffield.ac.uk
Some departments and networks have extended their deadline for ESRC White Rose DTC Scholarships to to 17 February 2012 at 5pm. If you are applying for an ESRC Scholarship please check with the academic department for their specific deadline.
Review process
- Your application will be considered together with your Application for Admission (including the research proposal, references and any other supporting information you submit).
- Applications will be reviewed by up to three departmental, Faculty and University panels. The selection panels’ decisions are final.
- All applicants will be contacted with the outcome of their application. You can expect to hear if your application has been successful by the end of April 2012.
