You could compete for the University at club level, get together with friends to enter a team into our sporting leagues, join our gym or just play a sport for the fun of it. If you love sport and want to enjoy yourself, Sheffield has everything you need.
Football, rugby and hockey pitchesFootball and hockey teams have access to two premier- standard synthetic pitches. A new-generation synthetic pitch is available for football and rugby players, plus three new- generation pitches for 5-a-side football. We also have 45 acres of high-quality grass playing fields for football and rugby. |
S10health fitness centre150 pieces of equipment on two floors. Fully air-conditioned, the gym has satellite TV and music channels, Technogym equipment and a free weights area. Friendly, qualified staff will carry out your induction and are always available to help you get the most from your fitness programme. You'll receive your own Technogym 'smart key' which stores your personal exercise programme. |
Swimming poolA full-size, six-lane indoor heated pool catering for all interests, from lane swimming to aqua aerobics. Poolside sauna and steam rooms offer the chance to relax and unwind. |
Bouldering wallThe Matrix, one of the largest fibreglass moulded bouldering walls in the country, providing routes for all abilities, from beginners to experienced climbers. Perfect for practice or learning from scratch. |
Indoor and racquet sportsOur multi-purpose sports hall is equipped with a sprung floor marked out for badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball. There are four squash courts plus provision for outdoor tennis. |
Fitness class studioAn air-conditioned, mirrored studio with a sprung floor offering a programme of up to 40 classes a week, from yoga and pilates to circuits and boxfit. |
Intra Mural sportIntra Mural is the name for the sporting leagues operated on behalf of all the students and staff at the University of Sheffield. This is possibly the largest programme of it type in the Higher Education sector. |
National City of SportAs the first National City of Sport, Sheffield has an enviable choice of world-class facilities including the prestigious English Institute of Sport, Europe's largest ice complex and all season ski resort, an Olympic swimming pool, athletics stadium, golf courses, and more. Sports bursary scheme
If you compete in sport at national or international level, our sports bursary scheme will give you free use of our sports facilities, including the S10health fitness centre.
