Entry requirements for students from Sri Lanka

We have been welcoming students from Sri Lanka for many years and our staff are very familiar with the Sri Lankan education system and qualifications.

High entrance requirements for our degree programmes at Sheffield reflect the quality of the University.

All applicants are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum score that is accepted for entry, in line with UKBA regulations, is IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80.  Please note that some departments may require a higher score.

For Entry to Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng

A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to undergraduate bachelor degree programmes.

A Levels (Sri Lankan and British)	We are happy to consider Sri Lankan A levels and entry requirements are comparable to British A Levels.  Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Required scores and subjects vary from course to course and can be found in our online prospectus.
International Baccalaureate	International Baccalaureate diploma holders will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Required scores and subjects vary from course to course and can be found in our online prospectus.

For Entry to Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc

Holders of a 3 year general Bachelor degree	Holders of a good 3 year general Bachelor degree from a recognised university in Sri Lanka will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or taught masters programmes.
Holders of a 4 year Special degree	Holders of a good 4 year special degree from a recognised university in Sri Lanka will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or taught masters programmes.
MBA Applicants	As well as suitable qualifications (as per the information above) at least 3-5 years' post-graduation work experience will be necessary for direct admission to our triple accredited MBA. Why not visit our MBA web pages or visit our virtual MBA open day?
