I decided on The University of Sheffield as I wanted a University which would give me the best of both worlds - that is student-centred learning and problem-based learning. I wanted a university which provides me with an integration of the traditional system and an early focus to clinical focus. Moreover I wanted my university to be in a laid back location, with everything nearby and I also wanted to do dissection, and Sheffield is one of the very few who provide that facility and I did not want a university which gives a very tight schedule rather an easy going one. Sheffield fitted into my needs so I chose Sheffield.

Some of the things which I find really valuable in my course are online histological practicals - Sheffield is the first university to introduce that system, and this is really fascinating. Dissection gives a practical and hand on experience about the human anatomy. The Integrated Learning Activities allows us to work as a group on a particular subject, and the community attachment scheme where a pair of students gets their own patient assigned.

We have to do more personal reading than I would have done at school, which would be the same case in many places, but fortunately I tend to like the teaching method of Sheffield mainly due to their integration of both problem based and lecture based.

In Sheffield we are taught how to learn, so when going up the ladder in our career, we take with us the ability to learn new things everyday because every day is an experience itself. Anyone who has the capability to learn is capable of securing a job. Therefore, in my view, graduates from Sheffield tend to have a higher employment rate compared to some other universities.

The people in Sheffield, which includes the students, are the best thing about life at Sheffield University. Everyone is very friendly and they help each other out when required. Sheffield is a very friendly and safe city.

In my opinion, Sheffield is the best university which gives a good balance between both academic and social life.
