We have been welcoming students from Malaysia for many years and our staff are very familiar with the Malaysian education system and qualifications.
High entrance requirements for our degree programmes at Sheffield reflect the quality of the University.
All applicants are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum score that is accepted for entry is IELTS 6 or TOEFL iBT 80. Some departments may require a higher score.

Important Information for potential Undergraduate Medicine and Dentistry students
The UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) is used in the selection process by a consortium of UK university Medical and Dental Schools. Students who apply to anyone of the universities for an undergraduate degree programme in Medicine or Dentistry and who require a UKCAT test can register online with The University of Sheffield South East Asia Office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
UKCAT helps universities to make more informed choices from amongst the many highly-qualified applicants who apply for their medical and dental degree programmes.

Entry requirements for students from Malaysia
The following information is for guidance only.
For Entry to Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng
A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to undergraduate bachelor degree programmes. All applications for undergraduate programmes should be made through UCAS.
A Level
Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.
International Baccalaureate
International Baccalaureate diploma holders will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes
Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysian qualification, (STPM)
Applicants with equivalent grades to A Level being required in three of the five subjects studied will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.
Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary School (MICSS)
Applicants with 11-12 points from 5 subjects will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate programmes. Note: Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia, Book-keeping & Commerce should not be included in calculating points.
Matriculation Certificate of the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia (SAM)
Applicants with a RAW score of 80 or better will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.
Victoria Certificate of Education
Applicants with an average of grade B will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes. Some academic departments may require a higher average grade.
Canadian High School or Secondary School Diplomas
Applicants with an overall score of 70 - 80% will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate degree programmes.
University Institut Teknologi Mara (UiTM)
Diploma holders and University students with a minimum GPA 3.4 will be considered for direct admission to the first year of undergraduate programmes. Some academic departments may consider students for direct admission to the second year of undergraduate programmes
UK Business and Technician Education Council (BTEC) Diplomas
Holders of a BTEC National Diploma with distinction or merit grades will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate degree programmes.
Applicants who have completed the first year of a BTEC Higher National Diploma with distinction or merit grades will be considered for direct entry to undergraduate degree programmes.
Other Qualifications
Certificate and Diploma holders from Polytechnics, Institutes of Technology, and private colleges, will also be considered for admission to Bachelor degree courses.

For Entry to Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc
Holders of a good honours degree from a recognised Malaysian university will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes.
For Entry to MBA
Holders of a good honours degree from a recognised Malaysian university and at least 3 years´ post-graduation work experience will be considered for direct admission to the MBA.

For Entry to Postgraduate Research Programmes e.g. MPhil, PhD, PhD with Integrated Masters
Holders of a good bachelor degree and a good masters degree from a recognised Malaysian university will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate research programmes.
