Hi all,

I´m back from a long and joyful vacation; we had 3 weeks off here for Easter holiday and spring vacation.

Most of us have a lot of work to hand in after this holiday but I just wanted to take a rest first and then continue my work.

I had a nice trip to Germany, to the city of Hamburg which was really nice, a beautiful city with a very green area and a lot of lakes. The food was also excellent there. I visited my aunt and we had a great time together. It´s very good that you can travel to many other countries around while you are studying in the U.K. Most of my friends have gone to many Europeans countries so far.

After staying 9 days in Germany, I took a train to Amsterdam. It was an only 5 hour away. Amsterdam was also a very nice place to visit. It has many famous museums like Van Gogh´s which was really amazing. I also took a countryside tour and we went outside the Amsterdam to see the rural landscapes of the countryside. It was really beautiful; the architecture of the houses with the windmills around reminded me of the doll houses I used to have when I was a kid.

Now I am back to Sheffield and doing what most of the students these days do: Going to the library, studying and doing my assignments which are due in 3 weeks. I am a bit stressed but I should overcome it to be able to get my works done well.

Hope this semester ends well,

See you soon again

I´ve decided to start writing down my web diaries so that you can find out more about me and my life in Sheffield.

First of all, Happy Norouz and New Year!! I wish you all a very good year.

Actually it was my first time being away for Norouz! First I was really upset about that. I really missed my family and wanted to be with them during Norouz.
But honestly it wasn´t as hard as I expected and it´s all because of the active job of Persian Society here!

For Sal Tahvil I went to one of my friend´s place and she had set the Haft Seen. We bought Samanoo and Senjed from the Iranian supermarket here. We were 7 guys and got together at my friend´s place around her "Haft Seen". After Sal Tahvil we went out to an Italian restaurant for lunch. The dish was really good. Then we came back to our places to get ready for the big party!!!

The Persian Society of the University of Sheffield organised a big party this year. It was held in a hotel in the city centre. We had a great time there. Celebrating the New Year with many more Iranian guys, eating Iranian foods and dancing a lot till midnight.
So hopefully the year started quite good though we all missed our families.

The day after Norouz there was a Cultural Evening party in the University and that was really interesting. Many societies took part in the event and presented beautiful dance shows. We watched different types of dance shows from East Africa to China. Indians did really great. They seemed to be a professional group who had been practiced dancing for a long time. And they fairly became the winners.

But, the Persian Society was really good too! With just practicing for a short time they did a great job. They performed different types of Iranian dances like Bandary, Baba Karam and… . Here is the link of their dance show, take a look at it, I´m sure you will like it.

Nowadays because of Norouz I don´t really feel like studying! lol. I just want to talk to my friends and family every day on the phone or on the internet and see what they are doing during holidays. Moreover I also watch Norouz TV serials every day. I like Kolah Ghermezy new series and "Marde do Hezar Chehre" too. Hopefully we can easily download them here and most of my friends are watching them here so we feel at home.

But I should definitely go back to my books soon. You can´t imagine how much work I have to do! 4 essay, 2 course works, 1 presentation and dissertation proposal. All due in 5 weeks!!!!!!!

I have promised myself to start studying hard since tomorrow. Though I know I can't resist going out for "13 bedar" with my friends. Maybe we will go to the Peak District which is a very green beautiful place near Sheffield. I hope many Iranians will be able to make it then we can have more fun for sure.

Ok, I think that's enough for today I should keep on making phone calls to offer holders to find out if they´ve got any enquiries about Sheffield. If you are among them hope to talk to you soon.

Again wish you all an eventful year.

See you later!
