Narjes Khoori
Narjes graduated from The University of Sheffield in 2009 with an MSc Structural Engineering
I am presently studying for an MSc in Structural Engineering here at the University of Sheffield. The programme has been quite intensive, as the department promised, but even then I have learnt so much, more than I initially felt I would. The department is highly regarded in the field of Structural Engineering as I have come to discover with the seminars presented by external speakers who showcase cutting edge technology and research.
Making the choice of coming to the University of Sheffield has been one of the best decisions I have taken so far and it was not just based on a caprice. I carried out a detailed research into the university and spoke to friends who had already undertaken their masters to get their opinion of Sheffield, in terms of the university and the town. Also, one of the most important criteria was the university´s reputation, the University of Sheffield is among top in the UK and in top places for various departments [according to Times Online University Guide 2008].
It can be awesome to find friends from different parts of universe with different cultures and lifestyle which is astonishing. Also another important item of the university is the non-stop studying place which is called IC. It is quiet and the best place for group or individual study. My experience living in Sheffield has just been awesome. This city is very lively. There are many places to hang out like pubs, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, gardens, theatre, cinema theatre, and sport clubs. The best part of Sheffield is the Union at the University of Sheffield. Every single day they have something for you. They arrange many events such as food festival, talks on different topics, parties, where you get to meet different people and from different countries, from different cultures. You share your views, your ideas, you make new friends. You go on expanding the domain of your knowledge.
You can´t ask for a better student life. This is the experience of a lifetime!
