Listed below are the scholarships the University was pleased to offer to students from the USA who showed exceptional academic potential and started their studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2013.

Postgraduate Scholarships eg MA, MSc
The University offers a range of scholarships for American students who show exceptional academic potential starting a postgraduate taught masters programme at the University of Sheffield in September 2013.
USA Sheffield Scholarships 2013
We are pleased to offer the USA Sheffield Scholarship 2013 to all American students commencing a Taught Masters programme in September 2013.
The scholarships are:
- £1,000 each for students studying Nanotechnology courses (jointly run with the University of Leeds)
- £1,500 each for students paying fees between £12,760 - £14,680
- £2,000 each for students paying fees of £14,681 and upwards
Eligibility and Award Criteria:
- You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your postgraduate Taught Masters programme in September 2013.
- You must be an American national or permanently domiciled in America.
- You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for fee purposes.
- The scholarships will be awarded automatically - no application is required.
- The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.
- The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
USA Merit Postgraduate Scholarship 2013 (£7,000)
There is one USA Merit Postgraduate Scholarship 2013, available for an American student starting their postgraduate taught masters degree studies in September 2013.
The scholarship is worth £7,000 of your postgraduate taught masters degree tuition fee per year, for one year of study. The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction.
To be eligible for the USA Merit Postgraduate Scholarship 2013, applicants must be an American national or permanently domiciled in the USA, apply for a study place by Friday 21 June 2013 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2013.
The USA Merit Postgraduate Scholarship 2013 is awarded on the basis of academic merit.
If you wish to be considered for this scholarship you need to apply. Eligible students will automatically be sent details of how to apply from January 2013 onwards.
Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.
The deadline for applications is Friday 28 June 2013; scholarship results will be announced Friday 26 July 2013.

The University of Sheffield does not offer research studentships specifically for American students. There are, however, studentships and funding for which students from the USA can apply.
