Compatible Browsers & Pop-Ups
The University's recruitment system is SAP based. The following browsers are supported by SAP:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Firefox
Internet Explorer
If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) 8 or 9 please ensure that this is being run in compatibility mode. You can turn this on by clicking on the relevant icon to the right of your web address bar. You may also need to add jobs.shef.ac.uk to your trusted sites.
Firefox
Firefox is fully supported but please ensure you turn off any pop-up blockers within this browser, for instructions please see the relevant section below.
Tablet devices, Safari, Google Chrome & Opera
Safari is not officially supported by SAP, however, users will still be able to access the system although they may experience some issues.
Please note, Google Chrome and Opera are not supported by SAP and you will not be able to successfully submit an application using these browsers. Please use one of the supported browsers listed above.
The Operating Systems that run on tablet devices are also generally unsupported. Depending on the device, you may be able to complete certain aspects of the application, but for a smoother application process we recommend using one of the compatible browsers on a PC or MAC.
Pop-up Blockers
The application form and vacancy details open in new windows. Applicants are asked to please ensure that pop-up blockers are either turned off or allowed for jobs.shef.ac.uk
Pop-up blocker settings may be adjusted for Internet Explorer via Tools > Pop-Up Blocker.
Firefox users should use Tools > Options > Content (on a PC) or Firefox > Preferences > Content (on a MAC).
Please be aware that Google and Yahoo toolbars have their own pop-up blocker settings, in addition to those in your browser. These toolbars can cause the recruitment system to "freeze" and you may hear a clicking sound as the system unsuccessfully tries to open a new window. You are able to uninstall a Google toolbar by clicking on the Adjust Toolbar Options icon and selecting uninstall. You can unistall the Yahoo toolbar via the Tools > Manage Add Ons option in your browser.
