Library services for visitors

Welcome to The University of Sheffield Library!

As a major contributor to the overall network of information and Library services in the Sheffield area, the University Library welcomes those outside the University who have a genuine need to use materials and services not available in other local libraries.

Visitors have the option of applying for an External Borrower Ucard (fees may be charged) or an External Reader Ucard. Alternatively, if visiting the Library for just a day, a Visitor Day Pass can be obtained at the entrance to Western Bank Library and the Health Sciences Library at The Royal Hallamshire and a Library Day Pass can be obtained from The Main Reception in The Diamond for access to Library Connect.

Please note, borrower membership of the library is restricted to persons over the age of 18. Young people aged 16 and 17 must first register as External Readers and parental consent will be required prior to registration. (Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when visiting the Library)
