How to apply for Scholarships

All applicants who have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer from Sheffield University Management School will be sent an email inviting them to apply for the relevant scholarship. The email will outline all scholarships that the applicant is eligible to apply for.

2016 MSc scholarships

UK/EU applicants: Seven scholarships available to exceptional candidates, offering a 50% reduction on the programme fee

Scholarships will be awarded on merit. The general eligibility requirements are:

  • Academic requirements – applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree, or equivalent
  • Allowed study options – applicants should have accepted an offer from the university to study on one of the full-time MSc programmes
  • Personal criteria – applicants must have the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary to make an excellent contribution to the programme

Closing Date: 6 June 2016. All students who are eligible for a scholarship and have accepted their offer before the closing date will be automatically considered.

The students considered to be the most outstanding, as decided by a committee consisting of the Postgraduate Admissions Director, one of the school’s Admissions Tutors and one of the MSc programme directors, will be awarded the scholarships.

The students to whom a scholarship will be awarded will receive notification before 31 July 2016. The scholarship will only be valid when the student has met all entry requirements for the MSc programme the student has applied for. The scholarship will be void when the student fails to register for the 2016 intake on the MSc programme the student has applied for.

Scholarships for Taiwanese applicants

National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan

The Management School is offering up-to ten places annually to National Cheng Kung University students, with a 10 per cent tuition fee reduction. The programmes they are able to study at Sheffield are MSc Creative and Cultural Industries Management, MSc Marketing Management Practice and MSc International Management and Marketing.

  • The scholarships will take the form of a 10 per cent tuition fee reduction
  • The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit - students can apply following nomination by NCKU, following one year of full-time study with them
  • NCKU students must be studying one of the following programmes to be eligible: MBA, Executive MBA, Advanced MBA, MBA International Management, MBA Accounting, Master of Information Management, MBA Finance, MBA  International Business, MBA Telecommunications Management, Master of Management Science in Industrial and Information Management, MBA Statistics, MBA Transportation and Communication Management Science

Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

The University of Sheffield is pleased to offer 100 scholarships worth £10,000 each for students starting a taught postgraduate course in 2016. The scholarships are for students who meet at least one of our widening participation criteria and/or students who achieve a first in their undergraduate degree. If your application is successful you can use the scholarship towards fees or living expenses, the choice is yours.

Applications are now open and will close at midnight on Sunday 22nd May 2016.

2016 MSc scholarships for University of Sheffield undergraduates or alumni

UK/EU graduates from the University of Sheffield:

A £1,000 scholarship is awarded to UK/EU applicants who hold a University of Sheffield undergraduate degree, as well as a 10 per cent reduction in fees. The general eligibility requirements are:

  • Academic requirements – applicants should have an undergraduate degree awarded by the University of Sheffield
  • Allowed study options – applicants should have received an offer from the University to study on one of the full-time MSc programmes

The University of Sheffield is offering a number of Postgraduate Taught Scholarships to self funded full and part time students who are liable to pay fees at the home rate and starting their studies in 2015. You do not need to wait for your undergraduate degree classification to apply for a scholarship. The 15 £7,500 scholarships (across all faculties) are offered to final-year undergraduates or alumni from under-represented student groups. Non-EU graduates from the University of Sheffield:

A £1,000 scholarship is awarded to non-EU applicants who hold a University of Sheffield undergraduate degree. The general eligibility requirements are:

  • Academic requirements – applicants should have an undergraduate degree awarded by the University of Sheffield
  • Allowed study options – applicants should have received an offer from the University to study on one of the full-time MSc programmes

Where no/insufficient suitable applicants are identified from a target country the School's Scholarship Awards Committee retains the right not to award and allocate the remaining scholarships to strong candidates from other parts of the world.
