Childhood experts discuss youth in transition
International experts in youth and childhood studies gathered at the University of Sheffield this week (6-8 July 2010) to discuss the lives of children in the modern world.
The 3rd International Conference on Childhood and Youth in Transition, which was held at the Kenwood Hall Hotel in Sheffield, involved a number of academics from a range of countries and cultures, bringing new perspectives on how children are changing over time.
The conference, which is being organised by the University´s Centre for the Study of Childhood Youth, included talks on a number of topics such as new identities for immigrant children, playground games for the digital age, how to parent adopted children and the characteristics of bullies and victims at therapeutic day schools.
The conference aimed to share best practice for research into these areas and raise the profile of attitudes towards research with children on an international stage. The event also involved a performance by a local children´s orchestra from The Sheffield Music Academy.
Allison James, from the University´s Centre for Study of Childhood Youth, said: "The Centre is delighted to host our 3rd International Conference, which unites research from over 20 countries and a wide range of disciplines. This conference will celebrate and raise the profile of research with children on an international stage." Notes for Editors: For more information on the centre, please visit the below link.
