​The University has a bank of experts across a range of fields who can talk to the news media at short notice in relation to their area of research in an accessible way.

We'll set up and arrange the interview on your behalf and have a media suite which allows for studio-quality interviews to be recorded remotely.

Media visits and filming

Permission is required for any individual or organisation wanting to film, record audio or photograph on the University of Sheffield campus. If you do not have permission, you may be asked to leave.

Consent for any filming by the media, student media or other external broadcasters, production companies or individuals is granted by the University’s Media Team, who will liaise with the University’s Estates and Facilities Management Team.

Contact for filming

To request permission to film please email the Media Relations team at mediateam@sheffield.ac.uk with the following details:

  • when and where on campus you would like to film
  • the nature and intended use of your film/audio/photographs
  • the name of the organisation you represent
  • a contact name, phone number and email address

We will aim to provide a response within 24 hours. A quicker response will be provided for news outlets.

Please note you may also be required to carry out a risk assessment depending on the nature of your request.
