What is your current job like?

My current job is great, my office is like a mini-U.N. We have staff from Jordan, Ghana, USA, UK, Brazil, Fiji, Nigeria, Mexico, Canada and the Philippines. I applied for it on a whim and couldn’t be happier. I recently pitched a series of travel-based ESL books to my boss and it is looking fairly likely that they will get the green light and I’ll be able to publish my own series of books aimed at improving Middle Eastern students’ global knowledge.

Where did life take you after graduation?

I stayed in Sheffield for a while because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to my friends and the city. After that I took a CELTA teaching qualification and headed out to South East Asia to teach English. I ended up starting my own company in Vietnam and had the time of my life there. It’s inspired me to do everything I can to have a life full of travel and new experiences.

What would you say to those thinking of studying philosophy?

Do it. Don’t listen to the doubters. When I was doing my A-Levels, I was torn between studying philosophy (which is what I was interested in), and geology. Never once have I looked back. I know a lot of philosophy graduates, and now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone voice a single regret. Studying philosophy at Sheffield will always be one of the most powerful and enlightening periods of my life.
