Most of the events listed on the What's On pages take place at venues on the central campus. Information on our most popular venues is given below.  If you need to refer to a campus map you can download one on the right.

FIRTH HALL, FIRTH COURT

Firth Court, Western BankWestern Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TN (No.105 on the Campus Map - link on the right)
Firth Hall is the venue for many of our concerts, lectures, open days and exhibitions as well as weddings and formal dinners and it is located in Firth Court, the old red brick building on Western Bank.

THE OCTAGON CENTRE

Situated at the heart of the campus, the Octagon Centre has an international reputation as a multi-purpose conference and music venue. It is also suitable for exhibitions and large scale lectures.

THE DRAMA STUDIO

A first class 200 seat theatre housed in the former Glossop Road Baptist Church. Each year over 40 productions are staged at the Drama Studio and it has the most varied and busy programme of drama, dance, opera and music in the city.

JESSOP WEST EXHIBITION SPACE

The Jessop West Exhibition Space is a flexible space that can be used for both teaching and special events such as conferences, open days and exhibitions. It has a maximum capacity of 170.

It is located on the ground floor of Jessop West and has its own dedicated entrance from the Plaza off Leavygreave Road. Please note that it is not possible to access the space from the main Jessop West building.

The space can be booked through the Arts and Humanities Faculty Office (not through central Rooms and Parking) by filling in the Exhibition Space Booking form (see download link on the right) and emailing it to

MAPPIN HALL, SIR FREDERICK MAPPIN BUILDING

Mappin HallLocated in the Sir Frederick Mappin Building, Now home to the departments within the Faculty of Engineering, the Sir Frederick Mappin building was one of the University of Sheffield's first buildings. Its grand facade and intricate decorative iron and stone work have brought it deserved recognition in the form of Grade II listing.

Richard Roberts BuildingRICHARD ROBERTS AUDITORIUM

A 300-seat auditorium adjoining the Dainton (Chemistry) building just off Brook Hill Roundabout.  As well as academic use, this theatre is a popular venue for public lectures.

UNION OF STUDENTS AUDITORIUM

A 390-seat auditorium, suitable for meetings, lectures and film shows. Facilities include a Projector room, a large screen, lectern and stage.

The Auditorium is part of the Union of Students, but is quite frequently used by the University for public lectures.

WESTERN BANK LIBRARY EXHIBITION GALLERY

Thanks to a generous grant from the Wolfson Foundation, a major bequest from a former graduate and many smaller donations to the University's Alumni Foundation, this attractive space has been restored to the condition it was in when the Grade II listed building opened in 1959, and upgraded with 21st century systems.

Opening times:
•Monday to Thursday from 9am to 7pm
•Friday 10am to 7pm
•Saturday 12pm until 6pm (excluding holidays)
