Research Project: Managing Biofilms and Disinfection Residuals to Protect Drinking Water Quality

My project aims to determine how disinfection residuals can be better managed to reduce adverse water quality impacts. Focus will be placed on understanding the chemical, biological and physical interactions in real drinking water networks and how these interactions impact biofilms and subsequent biofilm responses.

Conference Presentations:

“DISINFECTION RESIDUAL BEHAVIOUR WITHIN DRINKING WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS” – Valencia, Spain, CCWI/WDSA 2022

Managing material and biofilm accumulation in drinking water distribution systems – WQTC, Dallas, Texas 2023

The impacts of chlorine and chloramine on biofilms and discolouration within operational drinking water distribution systems – Ferrara, Italy, CCWI/WDSA 2023

Submitted abstract, awaiting acceptance. “The impact of different management approaches on biofilms in chloraminated DWDS” – Chicago, Illinois 2024
