Profile

Gary completed his PhD in Engineering at The University of Exeter in 2005.

Over the last 18 years, he has worked in industry at Smithers Rapra and Coventive Composites. Gary has substantial experience of CR&D projects, as well as infrastructure funding and commercial work.

He has significant experience of developing new composites materials and processes. In recent years Gary has focused on developing new intermediate thermoplastic composites materials and bringing them to the market. In particular, the development of fibre reinforced thermoplastic tapes for subsequent use in the areas of Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) and Filament Winding (FW).

Gary started work at the AMRC Composite Centre in June 2022. Since he started, he has been working to expand the centre’s capabilities in the areas of thermoplastic composites and the development of new intermediate composite materials.
