Professional Experience and Development Record

Off

The Professional Experience and Development Record (PEDR) is a standard form devised by the RIBA as a means for architectural students to record their practical experience and professional development, as an integral part of their education and counting towards the professional qualification as an architect. PEDR forms are available at the PEDR website which includes extensive guidance for both students and employers.

PEDR should be completed every quarter to record your practical experience, with the support of an Employment Mentor from your workplace, whom you should identify at the earliest opportunity after starting work.

Stage 1 PEDR Monitoring (Part 1 Graduates) - Year in Practice

Stage 1 PEDR submissions can be reviewed and signed off by the Sheffield School of Architecture’s PEDR Monitoring Team during your Year in Practice. We charge a fee of £250.00 to cover the cost of monitoring and recording your Stage 1 PEDR for a period of up to two years.

Stage 2 PEDR Monitoring (Part 2 Students and Graduates)

Stage 2 PEDR submissions can be reviewed and signed off by Sheffield School of Architecture’s PEDR Monitoring Team, if required, before enrolling on a Part 3 course. (Please check with potential Part 3 courses.) We charge a fee of £250.00 to cover the cost of monitoring and recording your Stage 2 PEDR for a period of one year, or 4 quarterly PEDR sheets.

PEDR Submissions

When you find employment, it may be worth asking your practice whether they will pay or make a contribution to our PEDR fee. Payment need only be made at the point you are ready to submit your first PEDR, via our online store.

When you have paid your fee to subscribe to Sheffield School of Architecture’s PEDR Review process, you will be emailed instructions on how to submit your PEDRs to be reviewed by one of our Professional Studies Advisors using RIBAs PEDR online submission system. However if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact yip@sheffield.ac.uk

PEDR Queries

If you have any queries regarding your PEDR or practice experience, you should refer in the first instance to the PEDR website where there is particularly helpful information including PEDR Categories of Experience and Frequently Asked Questions.

If you are unable to find the answer to your query on the PEDR website or need to seek additional clarification, please contact Sheffield School of Architecture’s Year in Practice team at yip@sheffield.ac.uk
