I studied at the Tunghai University Department of Architecture (Taiwan) and completed my PhD at EdCAAD, Department of Architecture, University of Edinburgh. I have 20+ years’ experience of research and teaching in urban visualisation and environmental modelling. More recently, I have been working with PhD students in the field of Bioclimatic Design Futures Research, developing computational methods for sustainable design with future climate. I am Director of the MSc Digital Architecture and Design, a new Postgraduate Taught Masters course launched in September 2014. I serve as a member of scientific committees for several international learned societies including eCAADe, CAAD Futures, and CAADRIA.

Human-Machine Cooperation in Robotics and Autonomous Systems. In collaboration with Professor Tony Prescott (PI, Sheffield Centre for Robotics). The Great Technologies Capital Call, Engineering and Physical Science Research Council £825,082 awarded to University of Sheffield: 1 Oct 2013 – 31 Jan 2015. As a Co-Investigator, I contributed to the Mixed Reality Interface (MRI) Platform under the Hybrid Reality Facility. The MRI Platform is housed at the School of Architecture for interactive design of smart spaces that include assistive robotic systems.

Rethinking a City's Theatres, Digital Creativity and Innovation (RECITE), University of Sheffield Cross-cutting Directors of Research and Innovation Scholarships in Digital World. The award funds three interconnected full-time PhD studentships to start in September 2010 for three years.
