Judges on the BJTC awards panel described the winning piece, 'Refugees in Rotherham', as a "stand-out, original story which grabbed the listener".

The story explores the anti-immigration protest - and subsequent counter-protest - that took place outside a Premier Inn in the town, where a number of asylum seekers had been temporarily housed. Protesters on both sides of the argument were featured.

Isabel said: "I am delighted to have won the BJTC award for Best Radio News Report! It means a lot to have my work recognised by the BJTC and have it seen by the excellent panel of industry professionals.

"It was a challenging story to cover but an important topic that needs to be addressed.

"I am now freelancing between ITV News and Channel 5 News as an Assistant News Editor and would love to move into documentaries and reporting in the future."
