The centre provides a home for the University of Sheffield’s research and teaching in the interdisciplinary field of Korean Studies. Housed within one of the largest East Asian Studies departments in Europe, the Centre marks Sheffield out as a leading hub for Korean Studies in the region and the world.

The University of Sheffield began teaching Korean Studies in 1979, and today we offer a wide range of modules taught by a diverse team of Korean Studies scholars from disciplines including anthropology, musicology, international relations, history, and sociology.

The centre hosts regular seminar series events, workshops, conferences and public outreach events that engage scholars, students and the public. Through these events, the centre aims to foster exchange between UK-based and international Korean Studies specialists while providing high-quality educational opportunities to our students.
