Don't forget, if you're eligable and you wish to join the electoral roll to vote in coming elections, students will need their National Insurance Number.

Intro Week at the SMI

Intro Week at The University of Sheffield begins on Monday 23 September 2019 and all students, undergraduates and postgraduates will receive a welcome timetable from the University with a list of all the events happening on campus. This will come to you from the Student Services Team.

SMI Introduction

All students are invited to an induction session at the SMI. The induction you need to attend depends on the level of study you are registering for.

Undergraduate induction will take place on Tuesday 24th September at 10:30am in the seminar room in the SMI.

Postgraduate induction will take place on 26th September at 11am in the seminar room in the SMI.

The SMI is located on floor 2 of the ICOSS building (please see the map below). You will need to be given access to the building but our team will be there to let you in and to greet you on arrival. Please try not to be late.

Here you will meet the staff of the SMI, discuss module choice selection and meet your personal tutor. You will have plenty to keep you busy during this week, including welcome meetings from senior University staff, welcome meetings from us here in the SMI, not to mention the many social events organised by the Students' Union and various societies.

Your Timetable

To view your timetable you will need to log in to Muse and at the top in your services, you'll have a tab saying 'my timetable'.

To log into Muse, you must first to go to The University of Sheffield homepage and click 'Log in to Muse' and enter your Sheffield student ID and password.  If you have any problems with log in you will need to contact the CICS helpdesk for more information.

During the first week you will take part in selecting your modules from a range of available courses.  Undergraduate students can view the online module selection webpage and postgraduates can view their available elective modules here.  If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

There will be set times through the week when staff and other students are fully available to help you make the best choice for you.

Timetables can also be accessed here or via the isheffield app

Most undergraduate core modules will be taught within the SMI in the ICOSS building.  Postgraduate students will be timetabled for classes and seminars across campus. For a map of the local area to ICOSS and the University of Sheffield, please see the map below.

Social Media and Blackboard

You should also now have access to ‘Blackboard’, the University online learning environment. This is where all of your course information will appear over the coming weeks. To access Blackboard please follow the link below

Access to Blackboard

To give you an opportunity to connect with each other in anticipation of intro week we have set up a Blackboard ‘Community Page’.

The SMI is also active on social media with Youtube, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

We strongly advise all students to contact if they have any issues or questions.  We will reply to your email more urgently than on our social media channels.
