Teaching

Teaching

Bryony is Director of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and course coordinator for Mathematics Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGDE). Bryony also teaches on the MA in Applied Professional Studies in Education (APSE), supporting qualified teachers as distance learners for their dissertation.

Bryony leads the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning, run in conjunction with the Sheffield SCITT.

Related experience


Bryony taught mathematics in a range of schools in England and southern Africa for 12 years before joining the department in 2010. She was Head of Maths in an inner city Sheffield school for 5 years, and joined the Senior Leadership Team of the school for a year.
Bryony has worked as a Regional Coordinator for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics. In this role, she worked with teaching colleagues in both primary and secondary schools across Yorkshire and the Humber to develop outstanding practice through collaborative projects.

Research 

Research

In addition to her teaching responsibilities Bryony is currently studying on the Doctor of Education (EdD) programme. Her research focuses on mathematics leadership in secondary schools.

Bryony is a member of the Teaching Excellence in Social Sciences (TESS) Scholarship Circle, and is currently undertaking research into school-university partnerships.

Bryony:
• Jointly leads the Sheffield branch of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics.
• Is a member of the strategic group for the South Yorkshire Maths Hub
