Profile

Lindsay has been a university teacher in the school since September 2020, teaching across BA and MA practical journalism modules.

She graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BA in Journalism Studies in 2005 and worked as a regional reporter and news editor since.

She joined the school from The Yorkshire Post, where she was an award-winning social affairs correspondent, working on a range of issues including social care, homelessness, the ageing population and tackling loneliness. She also spent time covering the newsdesk of both the Yorkshire Post and the Leeds daily, the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Prior to the Yorkshire Post, Lindsay was the news editor of several weekly newspapers in West Yorkshire, including the Dewsbury Reporter, and deputy news editor of the Wakefield Express, where she started as a trainee and later held the health specialism.

Throughout her career she has interviewed prime ministers and secretaries of state, celebrities and artists, and best of all, ordinary people achieving the extraordinary and battling hardship.

Lindsay has also spoken at conferences and events, appeared on national radio, and acted as a consultant to charities and organisations developing media guidelines.

She leads the second-year module, Introduction to Investigative Journalism, and particularly enjoys supervising both BA and MA students on their Final Project modules.

Lindsay has a passion and an academic interest in investigative reporting and the Freedom of Information Act; and for the use of new technologies in storytelling and teaching.
