Sheffield students nominated for Landscape Institute Awards

Three students from the Department of Landscape Architecture have been nominated for Best Dissertation in the 2020 Landscape Institute Awards.

Landscape Institute Awards 2020

MA Landscape Architecture students Rosie Hammonds, Ho Shun Yuen and Ningjun Feng made the shortlist from 224 entries in the student category.

The award celebrates dissertation work completed by students as part of an undergraduate or post-graduate course accredited by the Landscape Institute.

Rosie, who completed her MA in 2019, was nominated for Climate change policy at the local level, does it go far enough? This research explores the perceived implementation gap between climate change policy creation and the delivery of goals within local authorities.

Ho Shun, from the Class of 2018, was recognised for Defensive Architecture in Urban Public Space: Case Study of Hong Kong. This study tries to answer the questions of how defensive architecture – such as pavement spikes – is applied in the design of public space in Hong Kong.

Ningjun, who will graduate in 2021, was nominated for her work Bring City to Eco-Urbanism: Urban Nature-led Renewal Landscape Planning and Design.

The winners in the student category will be announced at the LI Graduation ceremony on 6 March 2021.

The awards in the professional categories will be presented at a virtual ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 26 November.
