As well as moving up the global rankings, we are also placed as the 8th best mechanical engineering department in the UK.

The global ranking is the most-consulted independent evaluation; it compiled the rankings of 15,700 subjects offered at 1,594 universities worldwide this year, featuring the expert opinions of over 150,000 academics and contributions from 99,000 employers.

QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 used five criteria to assess the universities: academic reputation; employer reputation; citations per academic paper; impact of published works; and international research network, which looks at research conducted with global partners.

We are very proud that our reputation as a leading mechanical engineering department has been reaffirmed by the latest QS World University Rankings. We are committed to making a significant impact for our students through our outstanding teaching and our academics are leading experts in their fields, conducting research that tackles some of the major global challenges facing society.”
