I am a University Teacher at the School of Languages, Arts and Societies, specializing in Spanish Language Modules.
I studied a BA (Hons) in English Studies with Spanish and French, and a MA (Hons) in Education with Foreign Language Specialization at the University of Almería, Spain.
During my studies I had a special interest in Literature and Linguistics. I completed a BA Dissertation on La Condición Postmoderna: el Teatro de Samuel Beckett: Waiting for Godot, Endgame y Happy Days, a MA Dissertation on English Studies on Dystopia, Feminism and Totalitarianism in Margaret Atwood's The Handmade's Tale. I also completed a MA Dissertation on Education on Estudio Comparativo sobre la Motivación hacia el Uso del Inglés dentro y fuera del Programa AICLE.
Before joining academia I worked at the International Relationships department at the University of Almería. I also worked in several academic institutions in the UK, including Hallam University where I worked as an Associate Lecturer on Spanish Studies and as an Academic Advisor.
At the University of Sheffield I currently teach a variety of modules on Spanish Language covering a wide range of levels. Through my teaching, I put emphasis on the richness and global significance of the Spanish language, while also promoting cultural awareness, building
bridges between diverse cultures and highlighting the value of linguistic diversity around the Spanish-speaking world.
I have a special interest in Inclusivity and Accessibility in the teaching practice. My recent scholarship projects focus on Inclusive Language in the Language Classroom. I have presented my work at several scholarship events and conferences, exchanging knowledge and expertise with other colleagues in the same research field.
I am passionate about the Arts, particularly literature, theatre, and cinema. I co-organise the annual MLTC ESP Film Screening Event, which features short films followed by discussions with filmmakers and experts in the field. I also host weekly Language Exchange Cafés that welcome learners of all levels to practice their language skills in a relaxed, engaging setting. I enjoy creating spaces where language and culture are celebrated through collaboration and exchange. I advocate for social and multicultural awareness in language learning, as I believe that languages come alive when embracing cultural diversity.
