New: AHRC funded Collaborative Doctoral Award

A new AHRC funded Collaborative Doctoral Award between the Department of Music at the University of Sheffield and Manchester Collective is open for applications. The project will research the 'crisis' in classical music: exploring alternatives in audience development.

Awards will comprise UK/EU fees at Research Council rates and, for eligible students, a maintenance grant.

AHRC White Rose College of the Arts & Humanities scholarships

The WRoCAH training programme are specifically designed to directly support and enhance your PhD research, develop research skills essential for the 21st century and develop your post-PhD employability whether that is in the academia or beyond.

WRoCAH AHRC Open Competition Studentship Awards will cover your research degrees fees and, for eligible students, a maintenance grant.

University Postgraduate Research Committee Scholarships

Each Faculty can offer a range of University of Sheffield Research Scholarships which may include all or some of:

Fees (UK/EU or Overseas) and a full maintenance stipend at the UKRI rate (full-time rate £15,009 in 2019-20). Fees (UK/EU or Overseas) and a half or partial maintenance stipend. Fees only (UK/EU or Overseas) A contribution towards fees and/or maintenance. Access to Research Support funds for conference and other expenses.

Hossein Farmy scholarship

The Hossein Farmy Scholarship covers the cost of the UK tuition fees and provides an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend at the standard UK Research Council rate.

China Scholarship Council

The scholarship will cover University tuition fees, a grant for living costs and one return flight from China to the UK.

Other funding bodies

Many charities, foundations and trusts provide funding for postgraduate study, from small grants to full scholarships. Some are in specific subject areas while others have more general eligibility criteria. Postgraduate doctoral loans

Loans worth up to £25,000 are available to doctoral students studying postgraduate research courses from September 2018.

International students
