Profile

I am originally from Madrid and joined the university in 2011. I have been teaching Spanish since the late 90's and before starting this job, I worked as a learning support worker and an IT teacher.

While at Sheffield, I completed a Master's degree in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and wrote my dissertation in the use of Blended Learning in Languages.

I am a strong advocate for the transformative potential of digital learning and have been working with developments in digital education for the last 13 years.

I am particularly interested in the benefits of technology and its applications in the learning and teaching of languages and, over the years, I have integrated the use of technology, flipped learning and blended learning to the modules I teach. Also, I am passionate about the exploration and evaluation of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to understand its potential in teaching, learning, and assessment. My recent scholarship projects reflect this interest, focusing on the use of Generative AI (GenAI) in the classroom and the creation of learning materials. This interest has led me to deliver papers across the country and in Spain talking about e-learning and its pedagogical applications.
