Welcome Shirley Jeque Mutemba, CESET project impact coordinator

The UI is delighted to welcome Shirley to its team through the University of Sheffield’s Evidencing Impact Internship scheme that aims to help students develop their employability skills by working within the University on a project-based placement.

Shirley Jeque Mutemba

Shirley is a current student at The University of Sheffield studying MSc Management. She holds a Bachelor’s Honours degree in Economics from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

She will work with the team on the Community Energy Systems and Sustainable Energy Transitions in Ethiopia, Malawi and Mozambique project funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund as an Impact Coordinator. The project is led by Professor Vanesa Castán Broto, Professor of Climate Urbanism at The Urban Institute. The project is now in its final delivery year (end September 2024), and Shirley will support the team to create, and evidence impact in its research in a transition towards renewable energy. Specifically, Shirley will help capture changes in:

  1. Policy and regulation
  2. Education and network development
  3. Community energy project interventions.
