Applications are invited for the 2016 Andrew Sherratt Fund
Grants of up to £1000 to be awarded to Old World Prehistory students of any academic institution in the world - apply by 29th January
After the death of Professor Andrew Sherratt in 2006 a memorial fund was established by the Department of Archaeology, University of Sheffield, to support international scholarship particularly for those at the beginning of their careers.
The purpose of the fund is to assist postgraduate students in Old World Prehistory, from academic institutions anywhere in the world, to travel or gain access to resources that would otherwise be unavailable to them.
The Department of Archaeology now invites applications for grants from the Fund for use in 2016. Applications can be for amounts up to £1,000, and should be received by the deadline of 29th January 2016.
You will be required to provide your name, affiliation and qualifications, the name and email address of a referee, and a statement explaining in no more than c. 300 words (2000 characters) how much you are applying for, exactly why you need it and the relevance and importance of the proposed trip.
Decisions on the award of grants will be made by 29th February 2016 and successful applicants notified shortly after. Payment of the grant to successful applicants will be made upon supply of receipts; grants should be spent by 31st December 2016. Recipients of a grant from the Fund will be required to submit a short (no more than 750 words) report on their project by the end of January 2017.
