How has your degree experience helped you in your career?

Returning to practice after completing the MA in Architectural Design, I was able to join an organisation in a higher position than previously. The knowledge acquired on the course helped me to critically analyse and draw on more rational, design-oriented solutions through research. Research as a skillset has been tremendously useful for me and has changed the way I approach and derive solutions.

Where did life take you after graduation?

After graduating from the course, I joined Space Designer Syndicate, a renowned Pune based design practice known for mega-scale projects like townships scaling above 500 Acres. Working with the practice as Project Architect I had the opportunity to design a software and technology park of 5 million square ft. and the first phase of the project is being implemented currently. I worked in the organisation for 2 years and then moved on to set up my own design practice.

What is your current job like?

I am now a Principal Architect and Partner at CPRB Architects & Interior Designers. A partnership firm with a focus on high-end residential design, residential and commercial interiors, hospitality design and the health sector. A typical day at the office for me involves client meetings in the first half followed by studio work in the latter.

What advice would you give to a current Architecture student?

Make the most of your time at the university. Explore and benefit from the available intellectual resources around you. Have a clear understanding of what you wish to do with your degree. Get equipped with allied skills of your profession. Most importantly - build new connections and develop new contacts while you’re still there.

Is there anything else you would like to share with students?

The University of Sheffield offers a wide spectrum of extra-curricular activities with the Students Union at the epicentre. It’s a place where you can reach out for almost anything as an international student. Apart from that, Sheffield as a city offers a fantastic and a very vibrant life for students. The University Arms, City Centre, Winter Gardens, Moor Market and Peak District have been some of my favourite places throughout my studies!
