The University's second annual Knowledge Exchange and Impact Awards honoured colleagues for their exceptional achievements and the far-reaching impact of their collaborations with partners at local, national and international levels.
Held at the Engineering Heartspace and Mappin Hall on 1 July 2025, the awards celebrated colleagues from academia and professional services whose innovative collaborations with external partners have delivered tangible and lasting benefits to the wider world.
The ceremony, hosted by Dr Tori Herridge, celebrated a total of 14 winners across 8 categories, including special Early Career Researcher (ECR) awards for researchers at an earlier stage in their research careers.
From a partnership dedicated to making Rolls-Royce's fleet of aero engines safer and more efficient, to a coalition of community organisations in Sheffield and Manchester supporting disadvantaged young people, the winning and shortlisted projects powerfully demonstrate how University of Sheffield colleagues and partners are innovating to shape a safer, greener, healthier, and more ethical future for everyone.
Professor Ashutosh Tiwari, Deputy Vice-President for Innovation at the University of Sheffield, said: "Congratulations to all our winners whose innovative collaborations with partners exemplify our commitment to delivering far-reaching and lasting impact to the wider world. A special mention for the winners from our early career researcher community, whose excellent work clearly demonstrates the bright future of knowledge exchange and impact activity at our University. Congratulations too to our professional services winners, whose creativity, specialist support and expertise are instrumental to our many knowledge exchange and impact successes.
“We have designed these awards to underscore that our work is a truly collaborative undertaking, and to reaffirm our commitment to continuously growing and strengthening our impact, knowledge exchange and innovation activity. The quality of the submissions was uniformly high and, collectively, offer a brilliant snapshot of innovation activity across our University. Our sincere thanks to our partners, whose commitment and passion are pivotal in these successful collaborations.”
