The training and skills that Beth developed on the PDGE have led to a successful teaching role at a top school in Dubai where she has lead the school to achieve the “Enthuse Award for Excellence in STEM”.

Learning to teach at Sheffield was the best decision I have made, the course is unique - with opportunities to carry out action research, learn about new education systems, travel to India (which I did for my enrichment experience) and learn the best pedagogical and subject knowledge! The tutors are truly what make this course special. They are very personable and approachable, allowing you to develop throughout the whole course in a manageable way.

PGDE is stipulated to be the most difficult year, however the course at Sheffield truly develops you as a person, a professional and as a teacher and prepares you for a career in the classroom. I can proudly say I am a reflective practitioner, always looking for ways to better myself, since having the opportunity to use my PGDE to study a Masters (which I completed in my NQT year) completing action research in schools.

My greatest achievement has been publishing an article in the School Science Review and leading my school to achieve the “Enthuse Award for Excellence in STEM” and that I'm currently teaching at “the best school in the United Arab Emirates (2019-20)”

The course is very thorough from pedagogy, history and subject knowledge to enhancing your career. The tutors are very approachable and supportive and you are offered a variety of school placements. There are great enrichment opportunities with lots of collaboration cross-curricular.

Having the opportunity to complete the Masters in Applied Professional Studies in Education is also hugely desirable!
