Over 50 Fully-Funded Engineering PhDs at The University of Sheffield for 2023

Take part in exciting, world-leading research and be part of one of the biggest and best Engineering Faculties in the UK!
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield provides dedicated teaching spaces, workrooms, computing facilities and specialist laboratories to support your research. Our strong links with industry mean that in many research areas you will also directly benefit from industry input.
Our Engineering PhD graduates find highly paid jobs in industry, government, NGO’s etc. and across many diverse fields, including tech, management consultancies, research and development, finance etc.
We have more than 50 fully-funded PhDs and EngDs on offer in Engineering for 2023. We even have some opportunities available for an immediate start.
Scholarships are available across all seven Engineering Departments, and in interdisciplinary topics including Energy, Water, Urban Infrastructure, Bioengineering and Manufacturing. At The University of Sheffield, our studentships have a standard registration period of 3.5 years. As you are funded throughout, this gives you time to work on your thesis while you are still receiving a stipend. Some studentships are even longer, such as those offered by our Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and CASE and ICASE awards, which offer studentships for up to four years.
These scholarships are available for Home and International students.
Our prestigious Faculty Prize Scholarships offer a generous stipend (£2,500 per year over the standard UKRI rate) and £2,500 per year to cover research costs. These are available for Home candidates only.
