Find a supervisor

The Department of History has a distinguished record of internationally outstanding, innovative and interdisciplinary historical research. Our research interests extend chronologically from ancient history to contemporary history and geographically from Britain to the Middle East and from America to India. We cover a wide range of themes including society and culture, politics, religion, gender, the history of violence and peace research, the history of slavery and medical humanities.

We encourage you to contact the member of staff that you would like to work with before you submit an application. If you are planning on applying for funding, it is particularly important to start discussions with your potential supervisor as early as possible, giving you plenty of time to work on your ideas for the research project and get their advice on how to shape it into a strong proposal.
