Provision of health-related training and education to support informal caregivers of people living with HIV in Malawi

A key project in the Information Systems research group

Off

This project represents the second stage of a collaborative research effort initiated in 2019 in Malawi, which led to the identification of a clear need, articulated by caregivers themselves, for healthcare information and basic medical knowledge, to allow them to care effectively for their loved ones.

The aim of this project is to build a health-related educational and advisory programme for informal caregivers aimed at promoting and facilitating their wellbeing and that of the HIV/AIDS patients they look after.

To achieve this, the project follows a co-designed approach to help caregivers to feel in control of their own wellbeing and that of their family and community, by promoting self-reliance and a sense of empowerment.
