Profile

Colin was a newspaper journalist before moving into broadcasting with the BBC, where he worked for more than 30 years in radio and television. He was News Editor at BBC Radio Manchester before becoming Deputy Manager.

One of the Corporation's first bi-media editors, he later moved into television production as a regular producer of BBC North West Tonight. He moved in front of the camera as the programme's Environment and Transport Correspondent, becoming a familiar face in the north-west for more than 15 years.

In addition to working with camera crews, Colin also filmed and edited many of his own pieces. He ran the pilot programmes for the BBC's new state-of-the-art news studio at MediaCity in Salford. As well as working for the Department of Journalism Studies he is a regular trainer with the BBC Academy.
