What was your favourite subject at school?

My favourite subject at school was art. I loved the creativity and the freedom to do whatever I wanted.

Why did you decide to study landscape architecture at Sheffield?

For me it was a good mixture of art and science, it allowed me to be creative and artistic but with a more of a purpose.

The course is much more varied than I though it would be, it's not just design; we learn all sorts of things including about wildlife habitats, the history of town planning and renewable energy sources.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

Firstly, that it's so varied. Secondly that there are so many experts among the staff. Whatever your specific interest is, someone will be able to tell you about it.

What do you hope to do once you graduate?

I hope to work for a landscape architecture company which has an emphasis on ecology and planting design.

I would also like to be involved in the implementation and maintenance of landscapes so that I am working outside some of the time.

Have you done anything unexpected during your time at Sheffield?

I went for a bike ride in the peak district as part of an ecological design project, where I rode a tandem for the first time!
