BA Modern Languages and Cultures (BAMLC) - 2025 entry
You can study two, or three languages as part of our BA Modern Languages and Cultures (BAMLC) degree: French, German, Spanish, Russian, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Czech, and Luxembourgish. If you choose one of our dual degrees, you can study one or two of the languages listed.

Our programme
You can study all the languages we offer as a beginner, and French, German, Spanish and Russian as a post A-Level student.
Our students will take, throughout their degree, at least two languages and at least one specific culture module. You can even opt for studying three languages in your first year or pick up a third language in your second year. After your first year you will have settled into your programme and you bolt your chosen culture courses onto your core language programme.
Modules
For more information on the modules available, please visit the individual language pages below:
French, German, Spanish, Russian, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian (language only), Dutch, Czech and Luxembourgish.
Please be aware that while every effort is made to keep the module pages up to date, they change on a year-to-year basis and according to other variables too. If in doubt, please check with individual language sections as to which modules are running in a given year.
Third year abroad
Whichever language or language combination you choose, you will spend your third year abroad. This is often the most memorable year of your degree because you get the opportunity to try, practise and improve your language in a real life situation.
Dual degrees
If you want to combine a modern language with a non-language subject, see our information on Modern Languages and Cultures dual degrees.
