The TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards is an annual competition aimed at finding the best undergraduates in the UK. Each award is partnered by a prominent graduate recruiter, with Máté's category sponsored and shortlisted by Procter & Gamble.

“I was surprised to be shortlisted by Procter & Gamble as one of the 10 finalists of the Undergraduate of the Year Award in the Future Leader category… it was a great honour to be acknowledged for my efforts in improving my leadership qualities,” says Máté.
“The award ceremony was an enjoyable experience and I had the chance to meet senior people from global organisations, as well as talented, hard-working students in a friendly environment. I think what made me the proudest though were the several congratulations emails from the academic members of my department and from the staff at the Career Service too.
“The opportunities for engineering undergraduates at the University of Sheffield are exceptional and highly rewarding. I wish the best of luck for other students who are looking to embark on challenging projects and take on leadership roles too.”
Máté loves working on engineering projects and has been involved in a number during his time at Sheffield, such as working with the European Space Agency to develop a solar telescope and also leading the mechanical team of Sheffield’s entry to a UK-wide lunar rover design competition. Máté has also worked on building a certified two-seater aircraft parallel to his studies.
Máté is an inspirational student who combines a passion for learning with a gift for sharing and helping. Fundamentally, he is an excellent human being who also happens to be a gifted and talented engineer too

Alongside this, Máté is also the President and a Head Tutor at the GraphCAD society, where more than 450 students per year receive education in engineering software. He has also worked part time for local SME, Ossila, as a Manufacturing Engineer alongside his studies.
Ossila had also nominated Máté for the National Student Employee of the Year Award in 2018, which he won in the Commercial Impact category.
Outside of design and engineering, Máté has a love for Judo and enjoys low-light photography too.
