We will be celebrating Emeritus Professor Bob Stern's distinguished philosophical career at a one day conference on Friday the 15th of March 2024.

Having published widely and taught regularly on Hegel, Kant, Kierkegaard, Murdoch, Løgstrup, and Peirce (to name just a few of the major figures Bob's work is in dialogue with), he also served as Chair of the Philosophy REF Panel, President of the Aristotelian Society, President of the British Philosophical Association, Editor of the European Journal of Philosophy and of the Hegel Bulletin, President of the British Society for the History of Philosophy, and Head of the Philosophy Department at Sheffield (2004-2008). He was elected a fellow of the British Academy in 2019. During his thirty-four year career at Sheffield, Bob also supervised a large number of PhD students working in diverse areas of philosophy and has been in conversation with colleagues working in and beyond his dominant fields of expertise. 

His former students, colleagues, and philosophical friends will be giving presentations on various aspects of his work, highlighting and celebrating the breadth and depth of Bob's rich philosophical legacy.
