 Chris Hookway Festschrift Launch

Please join us in celebrating the release of Pragmatic Reason: Christopher Hookway and the American Philosophical Tradition, a festschrift that reflects on Chris Hookway's influential work on American philosophy.

This event will take place on Monday 15th May, 4:30pm-6:00pm in Mappin Hall. After the event, there will be opportunities for socialising and refreshments.

"Pragmatic Reason" features contributions from several of Hookway's former students and colleagues, covering topics such as his engagement with the works of Peirce, James, and Dewey, his contributions to virtue epistemology, and his discussions of hope and pragmatist metaphysics. It will be of interest to researchers and advanced students working on American philosophy, the history of analytic philosophy, and epistemology.

Chris Hookway came to Sheffield as Professor of Philosophy in 1995. He stayed until his retirement in 2017 and has been Emeritus Professor in the department since then.

Please join us for what promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking event. We look forward to seeing you there!
