We are ranked in the top 100 in the world for Philosophy in the QS World University Rankings. Our publications have been rated 2nd in the country in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014), with all members of staff submitted. The department is widely seen as one of the friendliest in the country, and is known for its vibrant graduate community. We offer MA degrees in Philosophy, Cognitive Studies, and Political Theory, as well as a wide range of PhD opportunities.
We have around 80 postgraduate students, including many international students from across the globe. Our postgraduates keep busy organising a wide variety of seminars, conferences, reading groups and other activities.
Wednesdays 2-4pm, This Semesters seminar series will be held online.
This seminar is open to all graduate students in the Department of Philosophy. It runs throughout both semesters, and the students run their own series over the summer. Each week a student presents a paper, followed by discussion. A handout, abstract, or draft of the paper is usually circulated in advance. Anyone from outside the department wishing to attend should email the Director of Graduate Studies, Eric Olson, on firstname.lastname@example.org.
