Our courses

Our Philosophy MA is a flexible introduction to postgraduate study in Philosophy. The interdisciplinary Political Theory and Cognitive Studies MAs benefit from teaching contributions from other departments. Our MA degrees are ends in themselves or useful preparations for PhD study. Both MA and PhD can be studied part time or full time.

Our students

We have around 80 postgraduate students, including many international students from across the globe. Our postgraduates keep busy organizing a wide variety of seminars, conferences, reading groups and other activities. They have been notably successful on the job market.

The Department

Sheffield's range of expertise is second to none: we have philosophers working in all the main traditional areas of the subject, as well as in more recent areas such as feminism and the philosophy of film. This enables us to provide expert supervision on almost any topic.
